Acorn employs its own full time Health and Well Being Team (CAMHS) delivering a range of therapies, including an assessment of therapeutic needs conducted within 28 days of their placement. Waiting 3-6 months for CAMHS or GP referrals is not acceptable, we want to respond as quickly and positively as we can. Homes have access to immediate mental health professionals where support is a priority to meet a young person’s needs.
The Health and Well Being team are qualified to deliver EMDR and CBT therapies supporting the staff training programme and debrief system. Complementing the multidisciplinary service, we use a Police Consultant and have effective partnerships with community services who undertake 1:1 direct work with young people. Our approach is proven to break cycles of behaviours bringing about a positive and robust outcome.
